In PORTRAIT ® we care about creating the best quality handmade eyewear with original design. All our frames are the result of the experimentation of form, materials, craftsmanship and Art-driven inspiration.

The Neon series, to which this specific eyewear belongs, have been inspired in the Neon ART movement, where the artistic innovation happens through the use of light and Neon.

The light in general is responsible of the creation of colour, the property possessed by an object of producing different sensations on the eye depending on how it reflects or emits it. Furthermore the neon lamps, vapor-tube devices filled with gas, were invented in the early 1900s and mainly used in advertising by the 1930s.

To such principles a series of artists have based their own artwork. The combination of color and light so unique to neon has made it a vehicle to convey emotion and ideas. Translated into eyewear our Neon series is characterised by holographic-like and customised acetate colours, rounded edges, sanded glass like finishes, among other interesting features.

Lori - Lori Herbersger, the Swiss artist who inspired PORTRAIT Neon’s most feminine icon, not only uses light tubes in his art, but also considers the reflections and interaction with the objects around them. And so, this shape remarks the beholder’s uniqueness, interacting through fearless colours and lenses, translucent games that leave the face who wears it, most of the credit to a meaningful result.

Like all our  products, these sunglasses are entirely handmade in Italy by genuine artisans who combine traditional craftsmanship with a high-technology manufacturer, pursuing the highest quality standards.

The production process adheres to environmentally-friendly and sustainable practices. All of our suppliers have an energy-efficient philosophy and guarantee a slave-free workplace.

Opticals and sunglasses are the results of deep design research and experimentation, strongly influenced by art-history movements and dedicated to its most iconic figures.

Coherently with the project’s art soul, the communication is based on the promotion of emerging artists in fair cooperation that co-endorses both players, the brand and its fascinating testimonials.
