In PORTRAIT ® we care about creating the best quality handmade eyewear with original design. All our frames are the result of the experimentation of form, materials, craftsmanship and Art-driven inspiration.

The Art-Fakt series to which this specific eyewear belongs have been inspired in retro futurism. The vision of a post industrial future that, in different art fields, permeated aesthetics and functionality.

The future is often conceived by a limited yet provocative technological illusion, it arrives where our mind does, a challenging place that’s feasible but most probably inaccurate. In such exercise art is born, and so is poetry, philosophy,  utopia and dystopia.

For PORTRAIT this means minimalistic shapes, clean geometries, flat colours and mechanic joints that express function. The search for ergonomicisy and the intentional aesthetic only relatable to innovation.

Syd - Inspired in neo-futurism, this industrial mask-like fashion eyewear model has been dedicated to visual and conceptual futuristic artist Syd Mead whose designs recall a science fiction rationalism, so architecturally detailed they seem almost reproducible in the real world, other than his well-known sci-fi movies like Tron, Blade Runner and Alien.

Like all our  products, these sunglasses are entirely handmade in Italy by genuine artisans who combine traditional craftsmanship with a high-technology manufacturer, pursuing the highest quality standards.

The production process adheres to environmentally-friendly and sustainable practices. All of our suppliers have an energy-efficient philosophy and guarantee a slave-free workplace.

Opticals and sunglasses are the results of deep design research and experimentation, strongly influenced by art-history movements and dedicated to its most iconic figures.

Coherently with the project’s art soul, the communication is based on the promotion of emerging artists in fair cooperation that co-endorses both players, the brand and its fascinating testimonials.
